So we start with a zygote. This is a fertilized egg.

The focus of this video is how this fertilized egg develops once it has become a zygote.

So this very first cell that was created from this fertilized egg, this is called a zygote.

So this is diploid, and it's a zygote, which is just a fancy way of saying the fertilized egg.

So, when your mom and dad met, there is a fertilized egg, that round thing with that little blip.

So that very first cell that was essentially my mom's egg fertilized by a sperm cell from my father, that was a zygote, and as soon as it's successfully fertilized, it has 2N, or it has the diploid number of chromosomes in the case of humans, which I believe I am one of them.

And if we do that, and insert this into a fertilized wolf's egg, we may give birth to an animal that hasn't walked the earth since 1936.

All the cells of your body your lung cells, your liver cells, your skin cells, all the cells of your body ultimately derived from this one founding cell, the fertilized egg.

So after it's fertilized, you remember from the meiosis videos that each of these were haploid, or that they had oh, I added an extra i there that they had half the contingency of the DNA. haploid

It can move from a fertilized egg to a spat, which is when they're floating through the water, and when they're ready to attach onto another oyster, to an adult male oyster or female oyster, in a number of weeks.

They can't do it naturally, so what they do with this thing is they take a spoon, take some cells out of an adult gaur's mouth, code, take the cells from that and insert it into a fertilized cow's egg, reprogram cow's egg different gene code.

Just as an aside, this unification, this fertilization that occurred from this sperm cell to this egg cell, so it essentially penetrates into this egg cell and it creates this zygote, which is a fertilized egg cell from my mother, and this contains all DNA from both my father and my mother.

So, the fertilized egg divides to become two cells, those two divide to become four, and eight, and so on until your entire body consisting of on the order of 10 trillion cells has been assembled, and what is most amazing is that within the nucleus of each of those 10 trillion cells that make up your body, within each of those cells, you carry the same 23 pairs of chromosomes.
