And exploring could lead us astray and cause us to waste a lot of time.

We can, once again, use cross validation to find the optimal k because there is an inherent trade off between the complexity of what we want to fit and the goodness of the fit.

That is because when we're inserting a new round to our table, we probably also have to update all of our indexes, and that takes time.

And most security decisions have a variety of people involved.

In politics also, there are different opinions.

And so there are some questions of tradeoffs, of, you know, when if you think you're gonna benefit many people and harm some people, how do you deal with this issue of equity, and what

Every time you get some security, you're always trading off something.

A lot of times, these trade offs are about more than just security, and I think that's really important.

Now in practice there's actually a trade off between a really good data fit and low complexity.

Imagine a rabbit in a field, eating grass, and the rabbit's going to see a fox.

I know we introduced a lot of new concepts in this portion here, but the important takeaway from this is that when you're talking about different database systems, you have different tradeoffs.

If you don't understand the risks, you don't understand the costs, you're likely to get the trade off wrong, and your feeling doesn't match reality.

If economics, if the market, drives security, and if people make trade offs based on the feeling of security, then the smart thing for companies to do for the economic incentives are to make people feel secure.

It's really rare that you don't have trade offs between health and economics, or environment and economics.

That's how you think about security in terms of the trade off.

So if you look at security from economic terms, it's a trade off.

And if you think about it, the rabbits that are good at making that trade off will tend to live and reproduce, and the rabbits that are bad at it will get eaten or starve.

It's hard to be fully have a database that's completely atomic, it's completely consistent, all transactions are isolated, and it's completely durable.

I believe we should try more things that have a potential to be far less expensive.

And we saw something about how we can make the right trade offs between exploration and exploitation.

I'm going to go quickly through is based on an idea of Tetsuro Matsuzawa.

It's important that, if our feelings match reality, we make better security trade offs.

Now, with an understanding of how those things work that I think you can get out of this class, knowing you'll have better understanding of the tradeoffs those frameworks make, and what they're hiding from you and what they're exposing to you,
