So the sodium gives me 40 of 6,000, which when you multiply those two numbers you get 2,400mg of Sodium.

Since since I'm doing so well I was tempted to go to their 'Dessert menu' and I grabbed one of the recipies for apple pie. Apple pie is an American favourite, certainly one of my favourites.

So in that teaspoon, I can just multiply it by these numbers to figure out how much of the weight comes from sodium and how much comes from the chloride.

One by one, let me just tell you the answer.

I would find that one teaspoon of salt weighs about 6 grams. Let me write that here. So it's about 6 grams, and 6g is the same as 6,000mg, so that's the weight of one teaspoon of salt.

60 x 6,000mg 3,600mg of chloride.

The large fries with packets of ketchup 5 packets, is about 900mg of sodium.

If I'm totaling all of this up, I've got 60 7 11 16. That total comes to... 94mg of sodium.

I picked out a few things from there that I thought would be tasty.

The chloride part is the rest of it, so I've got 35 units over 58 units, and that is about 60 , and again the units cancel out. So, I know that, in salt, 40 of the weight is coming from sodium 60 is from chloride.

And in a typical dentistry visit, you may have about 15 to 30 milligrams removed.

And, let's say I took this teaspoon of salt here it is and I weighed it on a scale.

I've gotta a few things here block of noodles, cup of noodles and also my large fries with ketchup.

I love to make apple pie and that gets me about 16mg of sodium.

It's exactly equivalent to taking one 325 milligram aspirin tablet, throwing it into the middle of Lake Tahoe, and then stirring it up, obviously with a very big stick, and waiting two years or so until the solution is homogeneous.

That is what salt is made of, and if I imagine that there's nothing in my salt shaker except for Sodium Chloride, no ants have gotten in there, you know, no other stuff besides the NaCl, then I can assume that all 6,000mg of salt is going to be either from the Sodium or the Chloride.
