We're last place in Europe in innovation.

The whole country went mad.

So exactly why did China grow so much faster?

China was during the Cultural Revolution.

Where I work, in the Arab region, people are busy taking up Western innovations and changing them into things which are neither conventionally Western, nor are they traditionally Islamic.

China or India?

Is then sustainable development utopia?

China's home to a thousand treasures hidden after Mao's revolution.

And technology democratized music by making everything available.

Now, just think of the early 1960's in China.

These are the day to day of life, and they do pose problems.

Not only is it a technological leap forward, but I really do believe it's a bit of a cultural leap forward.

I made them invisible in the deserted shop wherethey had lived and worked all their lives.

Well, the first thing we need is, we need leapfrogging.

And this is one of the things that we are looking for everywhere.

Well, what I came to learn is that the culture of schooling, as we have grown up with it, is radically at odds with the culture of learning that produces innovators in five central respects.

We do. As rational as we are, as committed to intellect as we are.

What we're after ... is a meaningful and sustainable life.

Both were largely populated by poor people of color, both hotbeds of cultural innovation think hip hop and jazz.

That's the first thing.

Then I realized that the Pirate Party had registered their own ISP.

Most innovative.

In some cases, I know that many of you are involved in cross cultural dialogues, you're involved in ideas of creativity and innovation.

Carrots and sticks. Money for good grades.

One, competition.

Just think for a moment if science really could move in the field of authenticity of works of art.

And so, so when we think of Tim Berners Lee of, you know, when you can assume the web, perhaps you'll see a cultural revolution or a nicer cultural revolution or a deculture.

But then we hit the 20th century, and we entered a new culture that historians call the culture of personality.
