So first, a little bit of definitions.

So these treasury securities, whether they're T Bills, treasury bills, treasury notes, or treasury bonds.

But hopefully at this point you have a sense of what the yield curve is.

Clearly, we're living in a moment of crisis.

That missing piece is money.

They have increased the security of proprietors.

Because if you lend to the federal government and they're running short of cash, all they have to do is increase taxes on us the people and they can pay back your debt.

Open Market Operations. They will go to the market, maybe directly to these banks, or some other banks, and they will buy treasuries.

The yield on the bond is 6 .

Similarly, if it's three months, it's a three month treasury bill.

And this non traditional type of intervention, where the Fed is no longer concerned about a target rate, because the target rate is already at zero, where the Fed is not purchasing short term debt, but is trying to buy longer term debt, things further down the yield curve, and maybe things that aren't Treasury securities to begin with, maybe they're starting to buy corporate debt, maybe they're starting to buy mortgage backed securities, this is called quantitative easing quantitative easing.

And they get paid first.

Most of it deposited over the last year.

longer, so things that are maybe going to maybe 10 year treasury bonds, or further out than even that.

You're not a homeowner until you don't have debt.

And let's say, for whatever reason, either interest rates went up, or they had a bad quarter or a bad year, and they just didn't generate enough cash, let's say they couldn't pay off one of the debt holders.

What is even a treasury?
