With arbitration, judgement is usually passed in six months time.

and are not invested with the authority to compel them.

We give them a little comfort then We compel them to a harsh torment.

I'm in awe at their power to motivate, to compel us, to transfix us,

To them We give enjoyment a little, then We compel them to a harsh chastisement.

Or is it that their dreams compel them to this? Or are they aggressive people?

This is how we will be judged. And their voices should compel us to change.

If a medical error occurs, the patient or spouse agrees to a settlement for fair compensation by arbitration instead of going to court.

Had your Lord willed, everyone on earth would have believed. Will you compel people to become believers?

We know well what they say, and you are not there to compel them. So admonish by the Quran those who fear My threat.

Had your Lord pleased, all the people on earth would have believed in Him, without exception. So will you compel people to become believers?

Are you going to compel the people to believe except by God's dispensation? He puts doubt in (the minds of) those who do not think.

We know best what they say, and you are not one to compel them therefore remind him by means of the Quran who fears My threat.

We are cognisant of what they say but it is not for you to compel them. So keep on reminding through the Qur'an whoever fears My warning.

And had thy Lord willed, those who are on the earth would have believed, all of them, together canst thou then compel mankind until they become believers?

If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed, all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!

My one and only love needs me to be bad to overcome the inhibitions that compel me to be lawabiding polite to my elders and excessively nice.

And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed, all of them together. So, will you (O Muhammad SAW) then compel mankind, until they become believers.

Progress does not compel us to settle century's long debates about the role of government for all time, but it does require us to act in our time.

But no, by your Lord, they cannot become true be lievers until they seek your arbitration in all matters on which they disagree among themselves, and then find not the least vexation in their hearts over what you have decided, and accept it in willing submission.

He said, 'O my people, what think you? If I stand upon a clear sign from my Lord, and He has given me mercy from Him, and it has been obscured for you, shall we compel you to it while you are averse to it?

He said, O my people, Have you considered? If I stand on clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a mercy from Himself, but you were blind to it, can we compel you to accept it, even though you dislike it?

Verily! We have believed in our Lord, that He may forgive us our faults, and the magic to which you did compel us. And Allah is better as regards reward in comparison to your Fir'aun's (Pharaoh) reward, and more lasting (as regards punishment in comparison to your punishment).

He said O my people! Bethink you, if I rely on a clear proof from my Lord and there hath come unto me a mercy from His presence, and it hath been made obscure to you, can we compel you to accept it when ye are averse thereto?

So fight on in the way of God (irrespective of the others). You cannot compel any one except your own self but urge the believers to fight. It may well be that God will keep back the might of the infidels, for God's might is greater, and severe His punishment.

He said O my people! Tell me, if I have a clear proof from my Lord, and a Mercy (Prophethood, etc.) has come to me from Him, but that (Mercy) has been obscured from your sight. Shall we compel you to accept it (Islamic Monotheism) when you have a strong hatred for it?

And when Abraham said 'My Lord, make this country safe and provide its inhabitants whosoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day with fruits' He said 'And whosoever disbelieves, to him I shall give enjoyment for a while. Then I shall compel him to the punishment of the Fire, how evil an arrival'

He said O my people! See ye if (it be that) I have a Clear Sign from my Lord, and that He hath sent Mercy unto me from His own presence, but that the Mercy hath been obscured from your sight? shall we compel you to accept it when ye are averse to it?

And when Abraham said, 'My Lord, make this a land secure, and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in God and the Last Day.' He said, 'And whoso disbelieves, to him I shall give enjoyment a little, then I shall compel him to the chastisement of the Fire how evil a homecoming!'

And when Abraham prayed My Lord! Make this a region of security and bestow upon its people fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day, He answered As for him who disbelieveth, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the doom of Fire a hapless journey's end!

And (remember) when Ibrahim prayed, My Lord! Make this city a place of security and bestow upon its people various fruits as providence for those among them who believe in Allah and the Last Day (of Resurrection) He answered, And whoever disbelieves, I shall provide him also some subsistence and then compel him towards the punishment of fire (hell) and that is a wretched place to return.

And (remember) when Ibrahim (Abraham) said, My Lord, make this city (Makkah) a place of security and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the Last Day. He (Allah) answered As for him who disbelieves, I shall leave him in contentment for a while, then I shall compel him to the torment of the Fire, and worst indeed is that destination!
