There are all sorts of things we don't know about icebergs.

There's still icebergs in the water and snow on the ground.

Floating throughout this region are many icebergs, and nobody owns them.

And as they fall apart, many icebergs make all sorts of strange sounds.

Snow petrels nest on the icebergs and feed on the sea life nearby.

And that's why icebergs don't just all fall to the bottom of the ocean.

You know that icebergs are mostly underwater, their immense bulk hidden beneath the water.

Even in the coldest seas, icebergs are always melting, at least a little bit.

Although they form in far northern or southern areas, icebergs can float thousands of miles.

I first went to Antarctica almost 10 years ago, where I saw my first icebergs.

Icebergs are born when they calve off of glaciers or break off of ice shelves.

One day, I still remember... the glacier melted, and the icebergs drifted to the north.

Icebergs, many, many, many, many times the size of this building, are roaring out to sea.

Antarctic icebergs are mostly trapped in the Circumpolar Current, never giving them a chance to float north.

As it floats along, it is battered by waves, melts, and smashes into land and sometimes other icebergs.

Some icebergs are so unstable that they have more dramatic ends, heaving up, collapsing, and sometimes even exploding.

Some of the ice in the icebergs that I photograph is very young a couple thousand years old.

The big story on Wall Street is that Icebergs International has been bought out by Wometco Petroleum in order to secure tax benefits within the common market.

I approach photographing these icebergs as if I'm making portraits of my ancestors, knowing that in these individual moments they exist in that way and will never exist that way again.

The icebergs around me were almost 200 feet out of the water, and I could only help but wonder that this was one snowflake on top of another snowflake, year after year.
