cleaving there with a host!

and cleaving therein a host!

and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder

Or a poor man cleaving to the dust.

And cleaving their way therein into the host,

Cleaving, as one, the centre (of the foe),

Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder,

They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them.

They replied 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them'

when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?'

Recall what time he said unto his father and his people what are these images to which ye are cleaving?

Say thou my Lord careth not for you were it not for your prayer. whereas ye have even belied, so presently this denial shall come as the cleaving punishment.

Had We sent down this Qur'an upon a mountain, thou wouldst surely have seen it humbling itself and cleaving in sunder for fear of Allah. Such similitudes We propound Unto mankind that haply they may reflect.

He sees no black sky and raging sea, feels not the reeling timbers, and little hears he or heeds he the far rush of the mighty whale, which even now with open mouth is cleaving the seas after him.

And We brought the Children of Israel over the sea, and they came upon a people cleaving to idols they had. They said, 'Moses, make for us a god, as they have gods.' Said he, 'You are surely a people who are ignorant.

And We led the Children of Isra'il across the sea. Then they came upon a people cleaving to the idols they had. T'hev said Musa! make for us a god even as they have gods. He said verily ye are a people given to ignorance.

It is He who subjected to you the sea, so that you may eat its fresh seafood and bring forth from it ornaments to wear. You see the ships cleaving through it. All this, so that you may seek His bounty and feel grateful.

We carried the Children of Israel across the sea, whereat they came upon a people cleaving to certain idols that they had. They said, O Moses, make for us a god like the gods that they have. He said, You are indeed an ignorant lot.

'Depart!' said Moses. 'It shall be thine all this life to cry Untouchable! And thereafter a tryst awaits thee thou canst not fail to keep Behold thy god, to whom all the day thou wast cleaving! We will surely burn it and scatter its ashes into the sea.

And He it is Who has made the sea subservient that you may eat fresh flesh from it and bring forth from it ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships cleaving through it, and that you might seek of His bounty and that you may give thanks.

It is He who subjected to you the sea, that you may eat of it fresh flesh, and bring forth out of it ornaments for you to wear and thou mayest see the ships cleaving through it and that you may seek of His bounty, and so haply you will be thankful.
