We've had about 40 TEDx events that will be oriented towards kids between now and the end of this year.

Now let's go to month two

While it launched just under two and half years ago, we've had almost 2,000 events around the world.

Our school festival was held last month.

It really is truly exciting.

And he used to be the USA Today Monday morning guy.

The festival will be held next week.

The reason is quite obvious.

They are really excelling.

Within less than a week, people just chose not to park there anymore.

But there is something special about meeting in person, face to face, to share with one another.

So, what I wanted to do for you now is just paint a picture of sort of what's transpired in just over a year.

This event here today actually seems equally miraculous to me.

I was asked by Wilsonart International, a plastic laminate company, which is the largest plastic laminate company in the world they asked me to design a trade show booth for exhibition at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, in 2000.

A few weeks later, Woodstock happened.

We launched this little experiment at TED just over a year ago called TEDx where x equals independently organized events.
