And the collaboration you're doing with Los Altos, how did that come about?

Locating Bishop. Getting him out. Finding a way to get him to work with you.

My own ideas of how I would like to work, are given more importance.

But that's not the whole picture.

On face value, the next type of partnership is the most unlikely.

So James Surowieki has this idea of the wisdom of crowds, that says that a whole bunch of people are smarter than any individual.

You can talk and work simultaneously.

I wanted to create a perfect place where you can work and play, and where your body and your brain can work together.

We've had about 75 different languages spoken in this community, so you can imagine what that brings to the table every day, but this kind of cooperative work environment, teachers and students, supersedes that, and working with the computer, working with a partner, going on the field trip, those things are the intangibles that bring this whole project to life and can reach kids that you may never be able to reach in other ways. gt gt Student

Now my work lately has been to collaborate with international cartoonists, which I so enjoy, and it's given me a greater appreciation for the power of cartoons to get at the truth, to get at the issues quickly and succinctly.

Now, of course, this does not mean that we should all stop collaborating and case in point, is Steve Wozniak famously coming together with Steve Jobs to start Apple Computer but it does mean that solitude matters and that for some people it is the air that they breathe.

Actually the theme of this conference, I think, has hit on really one of the major keys to pull that off and that's relationships and working together.

Not everybody agrees with that, though.
