This actual clot that forms, that can restrict the blood vessel, this is a thrombus.

He's dying. Coronary blockage.

It's less likely but sometimes a plaque could also go downstream, kind of form a thromboembolism.

They're taking the de oxygenated blood away from the tissue of the heart.

And let me actually show you where the blood vessels come from. These are called coronary vessels I just write the word coronary here.

Officially, they're characterizing that it was a coronary brought on by systemic shock.

Or from the point of view of the person whose heart it is, it's on the left.

This right over here is called the left coronary artery or LCA.

So ischemia is deprivation of blood flow and oxygen downstream from this right over there.

We also refer to subclinical conditions.

And so when people talk about arteries getting blocked or getting clogged, they're talking about the coronary arteries.

The syndrome, the female pattern now is called microvascular coronary dysfunction, or obstruction.

So, thromboembolus is a more specific way of calling it an embolus, and once one of these things lodge themselves and block the blood flow, that's a thromboembolism.

What nitric oxide does is it dilates blood vessels, so it lowers your blood pressure.

And as I say, most of them really die very horribly, 80 is very bad for you. now that means, that is really bizarre that one should ask the question why should we defy aging.

That's what we call coronary artery disease, or heart disease.

Coronary vessels So, coronary artery and vein.

I mean, you've got red ones, and blue ones, and the blue ones are the veins, and the red ones are the arteries but are they part of the systemic flow, or pulmonary flow, or something else?

You can also call it an embolism.

So, those cells are going to need blood vessels supplying them as well. So, that's what the coronary blood vessels are.

And the veins actually drain into a spot , directly into the right atrium.

This is highly thrombogenic material. Thrombogenic, very fancy word.

Hopefully I'm not confusing too much these medical terms confuse ME a lot but I want to make it very clear, thrombosis is formation of a blood clot inside of a blood vessel than can restrict the flow of blood.

Stay clear of the hepatic artery.

Now, that inability to properly pump not just the cell, but the whole heart that is heart failure.

EKG goes pbbrrhh, so the doctors can see this hugely abnormal EKG.

It would be this thrombogenic material, the clots around it.

In the last video I called this a thrombosis but that's really not quite right, thrombosis is the formation of the clot that can restrict the blood flow, but when it breaks off, becomes an embolus, and lodges itself further off and restricts blood flow, this is called a thromboemoblism.

But, actually lungs are kind of interesting in the sense that there is a lot of mixing going on.

What's happening between these two, time like here, is that blood is actually squeezing out because the pulmonic and aortic valves just opened, blood is squeezing out and going to the whole body.

So you've got a couple of arteries that are branching off and these are also part of the systemic circulation systemic circulation.

Thrombosis is the process of a thrombus forming.

What we drew in the last video and this one as well these emboli that are also clotted, they are also thrombi and emboli at the same time, this would be called a thromboembolus.

In concluding the knee exam, it's important to document a neurovascular exam.

In concluding the ankle and foot exam, it's important to document neurovascular.

This is the mechanism by which you lower blood pressure, by which you dilate the coronary arteries also, to let the blood be supplied with the heart.

Once things break off and become an embolus that's the general term for it and in particular, if it's broken off material that is due to a clot, it is a thromboembolus.
