Nelson Mandela said, in the mid 2000s, not too far from here, he said that like slavery and apartheid, Poverty is not natural.

And we've got 600 billion dollars.

You are somebody who wants to see a better world.

It was self sufficiency.

It's not understood.

But also we do not want to relegate to poverty in the rural areas.

That's one context.

And many of the things we've heard about from our speakers today how many people do you know got up and said,

Now, when I was a young man 40 years ago, the country was very, very poor with lots and lots and lots of people living in poverty.

Even today, graduate from high school, work hard, and get married before you have children, and the chance you will ever be in poverty is just 2 percent.

Well, what do you believe in? Do you want to abolish the rich?

I want to find the way to eradicate absolute poverty, to build a just society, to improve income distribution, to have justice and to struggle for the day, when everybody may sit at the table of fraternity.

And back home, what do you see?

We're just spending money on the wrong things.

So in these countries, more economic transactions occur and more wealth is created, alleviating poverty.

300 women have disappeared in a border town because they're brown and poor.

You need to have children to survive.

I've been working on issues of poverty for more than 20 years, and so it's ironic that the problem that and question that I most grapple with is how you actually define poverty.

And it's the story of many of the Africans who are here.

The government promised to wipe out poverty.

For one, overpopulation is one of the persistent causes of poverty.

People were ground down by poverty.

But it also tells us something about one of these things that we think that we know.

What I see is many, many inventors.

In my part of the world, too many people live below the poverty line.

And we keep setting our expectations higher and higher.
